Due to the Bank Holiday, all deliveries this week will be a day later than usual. Enjoy the sunny long weekend!

Bitterne Box Big Weekend

We’ve got loads in store for you this weekend, new products, local produce and so much more! Our small local growers are really coming into their own now, with an absolutely stunning batch of lettuces from One Acre Veg in Titchfield this week. We hope to get plenty more leaf from them over the coming months.

We’ve also got delightful true spinach coming in from Aldermoon Community Farm next week – grown right here in the heart of the city. Again, we hope this is the start of another great year working with Richard and the marvellous team at Aldermoon.

Cornish New Potatoes are coming in thick and fast now, although the rest of the British veg crop is lagging behind slightly! We’ve loads of new products already listed on our website and more dropping over the weekend. We’re updating our cheese stock levels – do check back later if something you’re looking for is showing out of stock this morning!

Dank You For The Venom

Fallen Acorn have been up to their usual tricks again and have turned out another High Density Hop Charge Double India Pale Ale – HDHC DIPA! We thoroughly enjoyed Hoppiness By The Killowatt so are excited to have a taste of this – released Saturday 29th at Midday! Order now!

Late Night Burritos

Unity Brewing Co hosted the guys from Alvarado Street Brewery back in 2019 for the Rainbow Project, they went out for a traditional pint of cask ale and some late night kebab action. Fast forward two years and Unity are back collaborating with Monterey California’s finest on a pan-Atlantic release of their respective versions of the same beer, a crisp and bitter, but juicy and smashable California IPA hopped with Vic Secret, El Dorado and Talus.

Naturally, Alvarado named theirs Late Night Kebabs, so the Unity brew had to be LATE NIGHT BURRITOS!

Sergeant Pepper’s Pepper Sauces

Some of you may have seen a recent post on the Shop Local Southampton facebook page about a chap from Barbados, making pepper sauces, in Southampton. Naturally this caught our attention and a few days after seeing this post, Timothy brought some samples over to our shop at Bitterne Park Triangle. To say we were impressed would be an understatement, these are some of the tastiest sauces we’ve ever tried  – and we’ve tried a few!

Made with all natural ingredients and no additives or preservatives these sauces do come in slightly more expensive (£9.50 300ml) than some mass produced alternatives, but you can feel, and taste, the difference in every drop. We have three sauces in stock, available now and Timothy assures us he is working hard on the next release!

OUTRAGEOUS FUDGE – Home Made In Hampshire

Local Hampshire fudge, hand made the old fashioned way using all natural, quality ingredients, at home. Outrageous Fudge is nothing like the squidgy, overly-processed fudge commonly found in shops. It is heated to a specific temperature before being beaten to within an inch of its life. This gives the fudge a firmer texture, which then melts into a creamy sweetness in the mouth.. Great taste award winning and made in small batches, this is how fudge was always meant to taste.

Shandy Shack

More facebook talk here folks – those amongst you with good memory may remember a few posts on ‘Shop Local Southampton’ about a year ago from a young Southampton Resident called Freddie, working as an A&E doctor at Salisbury District Hospital. Away from hospital, he runs a small drinks business with a couple of friends called Shandy Shack – aiming to reinvent the humble shandy!

Their first product mixes their own fruity IPA with a third of a homemade, 100% natural lemonade to create a refreshing summer drop. At just 2.8% ABV, each can is just one unit, allowing them to be enjoyed guilt free in the sunshine. To whet your appetites, Giles Coren (The Times Food & Drink Writer) described it as ‘absolutely delicious’ when he first tasted it!

Now joined by their second release, Elderflower Lager Top at only 2.5%. A punchy pilsner lager topped with a splash of crisp elderflower pressé. Tastes like chilling on a sun-drenched bench.
