2023 Pecorino Piandimare

£14.62

The nuanced nose has the warmth of white peach and white-tea leaf, as well as the edge of salt flakes and pink grapefruit. The juicy stone-fruit quality intensifies on the palate, but textured tannins, citrus highlights and blistering acid create a wine that is impressively dextrous and balanced.

Piandimare, created in 1986, is located in the small town of Vallamagna in the heart of Abruzzo at 300m altitude and 11km from the coast. There is a strong diurnal temperature variation here resulting in grapes with intense flavours and fine acidities. The Cantine is owned by 60 farmers who between them have 200 hectares, 90% of which is Montepulciano and a clone unique to their vineyards, and this pooling of resources has allowed the creation of an ultra-modern winery that is quality rather than quantity oriented. The winery and vineyards carry SQNPI sustainable certification.
