This cheese packs a real punch and is delicious melted on baked beans for a warming meal.
Afterburn, a chilli flavoured cheese is not for the fainthearted. Made in Wincanton, Somerset, the cheesemakers take a locally made mature cheddar and then add a blend of Jalapeño peppers, red chillies, garlic and a mix of red and green bell peppers. The resulting cheese is fiercely hot and best eaten at the end of your cheese selection.
When tasting this cheese the flavours begin to gently warm the mouth. As it hits the back of your throat it really begins to heat up until reaching a crescendo of fire when you swallow it.
Amazing melted on warm sourdough bread or over a burger. This cheese also pairs really well with a Sauvignon Blanc as the coolness of the wine helps to temperate the heat of the cheese.
